Starting from 7 April 2025:
- The use of power banks to charge other portable electronic devices and/or recharging the power banks during the flight is prohibited; and
- Stowage of power banks in the overhead compartment is prohibited
To enhance the safety of our flights, starting from 7 April, the carriage of power banks will be prohibited for all operating crew (both the flight crew and cabin crew). This enforcement has been made after an assessment by the Group Safety and Operational Risk Management (GSORM) following the HKCAD's regulation update.
kind of silly to me, also sucks for the crew
Why is it "kind of silly". There has been so many incidents with power banks all over the world.
Many airlines are banning their use. Pax need to carry them from A to B and they are not allowed in checked luggage.
