Fair point - and yes, it's a manual pull for new data using the refresh icon. I guess we are trying to communicate this is not a static 'information' map, a la aeroLOPA or seatguru, but based on airline data at the time of request. For an FT user that may be more obvious than to someone who is just going on vacation.
Building an intuitive UI is part of what we want to do - I'm a wordy person, so trying to remove words has been a new skill to learn!
We do have some interesting new ideas to bring this more to life - watch this space!!!
