There is a problem with the claim that we have wonderful insurance that makes it worth it, however... I just tried to make a claim on trip delay/interruption insurance, and found out that we are no longer (as of late 2024) covered for costs that were ADDED from a trip delay or interruption, only from prepaid costs (flights, car rental, hotel, etc) that were forfeited due to the event. My partner got ill while traveling with me, and we were informed (in a letter from the Doctor) not to travel for 5 days. The new insurance company said the costs for the extended hotel, food, etc were NOT covered, because the policy doesn't say they are...and thus, they suggested I buy travel insurance.
