New online check-in restrictions for non-EU nationals?
New thing I've just come across, occurring in both the app and on the website. Trying to check in online (more than 24h ahead; this was an Avios redemption) for a UK-Spain (MAN-MAD) flight as a non-EU national.
For the first time, I've being told I am unable to do so as staff at the airport have to check my documents. I've never had a problem with OLCI in the past when flying MAN-MAD / LGW-MAD / LHR-MAD, or for that matter from any non-EU destination to MAD on IB/I2. Anyone know if they've changed their procedures?
The annoying thing is at an outstation where the staff won't show up till 2 hours before the flight, I suddenly have a lot of time to spare that I can't use sitting in the lounge.
Edit to add: This is my first ex-UK flight to MAD since the UK's ETA restrictions came in for EU nationals (even though I hold a non-EU passport and never had an issue previously either) – which makes me wonder if this is a thing which will apply solely to ex-UK flights? I checked in online for my ex-MAD just fine.
