IMHO you are not ‘giving BA money for nothing’. You are giving them money to spend on a fuel that they (and other airlines) should be buying anyway! It should become over time a ‘normal’ business expense, not an ‘extra’. Everyone, including BA, needs to change their behaviour to help save the planet. Just my two pence.

PS The logical extension to BA’s approach on this is that they will start to offer the ability to pay extra for things like organic food and wine on board.
