Of course that happens, but in this situation, I really doubt DL is going to voluntarily pre-announce bad news and then sugar coat it at the same time. The true corporate fib would be to stay quiet completely, or "kitchen sink" the preannounce, and overstate the bad news so they can "beat" estimates later.
If they mention that "premium" demand is weakening at their Q1 conference call this month, then it is probably based on booking data since the preannouncement.
10am EDT April 9th will be the conference call. Typically Ed does a pre-call interview on CNBC at around 7-8am that morning.
