I really think BA believe every passenger in there has eaten before jumping in their Uber XL for the 20 minute drive to the airport. It does not consider that many people in there expect something substantial. The last time I was there, I had caught the 5:13am train to London, worked on site until 2pm, travelled to the airport where I showered. In the lounge I had a few drinks before going to Plane food for something to eat. Eating in the lounge is just additional calories for little or no satisfaction.

Pre-Covid, there used to be something for everyone. It was a meal replacement. Today, people eat what they can because they are hungry and it is the best of a bad menu. But my over-riding question is what market segment do BA think they are satisfying. What I am really saying is bring back the burger and 4 chips. It is served in the CCR so why not?

I’m afraid the quality of the food has gone in inverse correlation to the proliferation of gold cards. I suspect that the budget never changed but the number of gold card holders grew by an order of magnitude and the result has been school dinners for half of London. Let’s hope one of the reasons for the new TP regime is to get things back to where they were 15 years ago.
