Just based on this, I would not trust anything else that this CBP officer told you or did; that officer appears to be clueless at best and incompetent at worst. The next time that you go through passport control when entering the US, I strongly recommend that you ask the CBP officer who processes your admission, even if it is the officer at the exit from the GE kiosk area, to make sure that everything in your profile is correct.
I'll just add that I monitor this thread and forum very closely; I don't recall anyone else ever reporting that they had to present their naturalization certificate in order to have their citizenship updated in the TTP profile.
I think I would rather just drive up to Blaine on a weekday morning to do another update...
As instructed by that officer, I contacted the Canadian side and updated my info. I did get a confirmation from them.
Prior to sending that email, I did ask the Canadian officer about scanning the forms. Apparently, I would also need to get any new DL scanned into my file. I will just go ahead and get this scanned in when I get it and ask the officer at that time to update my files, before I even attempt flying in and out of the country.
