Sharing a data point as it may help anyone chasing MM status.

I recently flew on Srilankan airlines and was hoping for million miler calculation it will be the actual miles flown vs based miles earned for the flight. To my surprise AA counted only base miles instead for MM calculation. Called AAdvantage customer service and was told that the calculation for partner airlines is based on the base miles earned (i.e. fare basis) instead of actual butt in seat miles. However for AA it will be actual miles flown regardless of fare purchased.
