Regarding standby without repricing, I doubt that an a CX check-in agent at KHH would allow it without a good reason.
I'm not sure about KHH, but I've done standby at TPE quite a few times before and on an Essential ticket it's always just 1k TWD (flight change fare) without any additional cost. I think maybe with the amount of flights going on and from a revenue/profit perspective, it just makes sense for them to send someone on their merry way on an earlier unsold flight and increase availability on later flights.
