In my opinion bigger is not necessarily better when it comes to lobster -- the really big ones (2.5 lb+) are often very tough and gummy. But I don't really understand eating just lobster tails either -- I like the meat in the body the best. Perhaps this is because I grew up in New England. We can get lobsters just about anytime we want for around $8/pound at any supermarket....and if you're squeamish, you don't even have to kill them yourselves, as many places will steam them for you. (I generally do the deed myself...)
