Depends on the reason for the delay.
UA is saying "Our maintenance team is servicing a window on the aircraft before we depart. We apologize for the delay and are working to get you on your way as soon as possible."

Once the MX goes more than a few hours, it need to slip 12 hours to prevent arriving in the middle of the night.

Hard to believe a window replacement can not be done in 12 hours
