I want to use BA Avios to book a hotel for the drive home. Does the program have advance booking restrictions, or only some properties? We recognize that using Avios for hotels is not cost-efficient, but don't expect to use them for anything else.

Usually it's a 3* hotel, something right off the highway, so Hampton Inn, Country Inn & Suites, etc. Traditionally I've used Choice Hotels or Hilton points, but finally burned the last of what was once 4,000,000 Radisson points. Because we're driving, arrival destination varies based on traffic, weather, etc. (i.e. "how far can we get by X o'clock?"), we book same day from the road.

I've tried several cities where we might stop. Right now it's 230pm EDT on Mar 29. I can book for as early as tonight using points on the hotels' sites, but no earlier than Mar 31 or Apr 1 on the BA site (Mar 29 is not offered as a date, Mar 30 returns "try another date" on all I tried, while Mar 31 returns "try another date" on most).

It's not that busy as some properties have a discount on the regular award price. Is it a BA Avios rule that you can't book for same or next day, and 48 hours or 72 hours in advance at different properties? Or am I just having bad luck (in which case I'll keep looking)?
