Our driver and guide met us in lobby promptly at 9 am the next morning. We piled back into the Toyota Fortuner for the hour-ish drive over to the entrance of the My Son ruins.
After we passed the entrance, we were ushered into a golf cart that that took us closer.
The golf cart dropped us off a few minutes later, and the first set of ruins were another 10 minute walk away.
The My Son ruins are the remains of the Shaiva Hindu temples dating back to the 4th century, which are actually fairly well preserved especially considering the large scale conflicts in the area. It is a UNESCO world heritage site, and pretty dang impressive. Outside of the hellacious humidity, we had a blast exploring the ruins.
Of course, there’s always the obligatory bomb crater picture.
We watched the Cham cultural dance before heading back to the car and going to Hoi An
The drive over to Hoi An took about an hour.
The siren is everywhere.
Our first stop was at Yaly Couture. This was a bit gimmicky, and I’m sure our guide got a kickback. That said, it was very low pressure and product quality was excellent. So we both got measured and ordered a couple of outfits.
Then we walked around Hoi An, which was beautiful and reminded me a lot of my hometown.
We stopped at local café for drinks and enjoy the sights of boat lantern festival.
Then we were dropped off back at the hotel. We took a little break before getting a Grab taxi over to dinner at the My Hanh Seafood.
We were seated on the restaurant’s large patio overlooking beach
Food was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed a feast of fresh fish, razor clams, braised pork, and amazing sweet bread, and seafood fried rice.
After quick after dinner walk, we hopped into another Grab taxi to the hotel for another night ocean surf lulled sleep.
