Hi All, I came across this forum after staying in Fufu Nikko, and ever since then we prefer to visit more ryokans rather than saying in the main cities. We will drive around Kyushu this year, thanks to the fantastic and detailed reviews by this thread.
My concern is if there is any cigarette smell in the rooms in these higher end ryokans. This was asked once in this thread, but I thought you might have some more experience, if you notice the room/furniture/tatami etc smell like cigarette?
Not sure if I read correctly but Takefue FAQ says it is allowed to smoke in the room, and I worry that we will notice it, and also because we will travel with a 1 year old.
