Question on a segment operated by Scoot.

We are booked TRZ-SIN-SFO via SQ, with ex-TRZ segment, of course, on Scoot. I've paid to select a seat (don't agree we should need to, but I realize its just what it is...), but also, given the TRZ departure is at ~midnight, not sure I want to eat, even though we have a meal included with the SQ ticket. Haven't picked a meal yet - was hoping I could hedge my bets - I'm pretty close to the front of the aircraft so not too worried about them running out of a preferred choice, but if luck will have it that day, and I am sleeping when they come around (trust me..that would be a good thing), would rather not be bothered with them trying to bring a meal. If I'm awake at that point and want to eat, will I still be able to get a [comp] selection off the cart (I realize based on whatever they have), or am I losing the 'free' meal if I don't select it in advance of the flight?
