Called in and, according to the agent who confirmed it with his help desk, I
will be able to check the bag in the night before. Not sure how reliable this response is, but they sounded confident.
These are also on the
same PNR, so that's another variable to consider beyond it being JFK. For reference, this is AA 107 (arriving at 8pm) and AA 179 (departing at 7:59am).
