A booking for this summer in PremEcon, UA out, LH return. Original UA codeshare return.
Called to change to LH flight number, UA knew immediate what and why I wanted. But things got interesting -- after 15 minutes, cam back and said this will take longer. Had another codeshare LH operated to start the day and the two LH flights were married segments. So in the end both flights were re-labeled.
Then as I started into applying *A mileage upgrade, I got a very reasonable cash upgrade for upper deck, footsie seats (only a few seats still available). Decided to purchase.
And now the TATL segment is gone on united.com.
Just hope UA does try to help me or LH makes a schedule / aircraft change.
Question: if I put an upgrade request or take a cash offer from UA, is that pushing my chances too much?
Not sure I get the 'UA tries to help' or LH schedule change. Assume you bought the UG on lufthansa.com? UA does not see that - any change that requires re-ticketing is going to mess up that purchased upgrade - re-instating that is not an easy task. I think you should hope that there isn't a change and that UA does not want to 'help' here
They have to change both flights to LH flight numbers, that's normal, they can't leave the intra-EU as a UA codeshare with the TATL changed to LH
upgrading a remaining UA segment on this ticket should not be a problem, I have done that in the past and it was compatible with a UA upgrade (although not cash; used +Ps). The UA upgrade should not trigger any re-ticketing. IME, as long as one avoids anything that triggers a re-ticketing (incl., e.g. SDC), it is fine.
