Hey everyone! Hope everyone is well. I recently flew with Cathay Pacific from London to the Philippines via Milan and Hong Kong—a 20+ hour journey with two layovers. This is a summary of my review which can be found
here. The trip stirred nostalgia from my early 2000s travels with them, when I loved their in-flight games like Battleship and snacks like cup noodles. However, this time, a tight connection in Milan (under an hour) due to a delayed British Airways flight nearly left me and others stranded. Lesson learned: one layover is less stressful!

Lunch in Premium Economy
The Milan transfer was chaotic—rushed through corridors and an extra security check (why?) to board a packed Boeing 777-300ER for the 13-hour flight to Hong Kong. In Premium Economy (seat 34G), the 2-4-2 layout felt cramped, and while amenities like the pillow and menu were nice, the outdated seats and unresponsive entertainment screen disappointed me. The food, though, was a highlight—delicious beef with black pepper sauce and Haagen-Dazs dessert made up for the lack of hot towels and paper-cup drinks.
Old and flimsy IFE
Overall, Cathay’s service and food were top-notch, but the £1300 one-way price didn’t match the aging cabin and entertainment system—Economy might’ve been better value on this older plane. A lost bag in Milan took two days to recover, though they compensated me for clothes. I’m hopeful for their new Premium Economy seats in 2025.
