For now, AA is a much better deal. I managed to use most of my family's AS miles (which are now merged via HA business credit card), but I will be sad if business class on FJ to NZ sub-100k never reappears.

I never managed to fly F transpac. A family member had the option in 2021 to use AS miles for SFO-NRT-BKK and back (due to Japan's lockdown), but decided on J instead. The best deal would probably have been coach with a 95% empty cabin.
