This is literally how every other airline merger in the history of mergers has gone, nothing instantaneously happens the day the announcement "we're going to merge and we got government approval" happens. What is a reasonable expectation here? They're not allowed to reallocate which jet flies where until the merger is 100% complete?
You couldn't use your AS MVPG upgrade certs on VX the first few months either, we seemed to have survived that...
Alaska’s plan to acquire Hawaiian was announced in December, 2023. The merger closed on September 18, 2024, over six months ago. I got an email from Alaska on October 16 titled “Our loyalty program is reaching new heights.” So “the first few months” is well passed already.
Also, the Hawaiian credit card includes a 50% off companion discount (one time only I believe, not every year). The Hawaiian software can handle that, but after six months they can’t deal with the Alaska BOGO’s? If that’s the problem, they need better IT support.
i called Alaska reservations and then got transferred to customer care. At least the person I spoke to believed that the situation is not going to change, which makes it sound very deliberate. I thus find your arguments to ring a bit hollow, but I hope you are right and will be the first one to praise Alaska for fixing it if and when they do.
