My family of 5 faced this exact same problem last summer. One question not asked thus far, do either of you have access to the Admirals Club either through the Citi card or general membership? The AC lounge in Terminal 3 will and did grant access to my entire family. We did try in LHR T5 and were indeed turned away based on Saphire status. Just a thought...
