The contract law under EU law ( I don not know UK law) is clear. You purchase to be transported from A to B at a given time in a given travel class. Nothing more, nothing less. Part of the contract is not in which kind of aircraft or via points, as long as they are not stopovers. I agree one can argue what a stopover is (>24h or a longer tranfer time (e.g. 6 hours)), but a simple transfer (e.g. 2 hours) is it definitely not.
