Hi,
I've been meaning to post an update on my claim for a while now.
BA248 from GIG-LHR on 30th January, was delayed at least 24 hours due to pilot illness.
I submitted my initial claim on 3rd February. Then on the 11th February I got a reply saying the flight had been diverted due to weather conditions.
This was incorrect, because the flight was not diverted and there were no issues related to weather.
I replied to that email the same day. Then on the following day, I got another reply, basically saying the same thing, that the flight had been diverted due to weather conditions.
Once again I replied the same day. But this time I followed some advice from corporate-wage-slave and asked BA to confirm this was their final answer so that I can take the claim up with the CEDR.
I got another email later that day, advising that the claim was being investigated by the Flight Investigation Department team.
Then on the 13th February, I got a final email acknowledging that I was due the compensation.
The money was paid into my account on the 26th February.
One mistake I did make, on the day of the delay, I was given a letter from the check in staff, with the name of the hotel where my accommodation had been arranged.
That letter actually made reference to the fact that the pilot had taken ill.
Maybe if I had noticed that, I might have saved myself a couple of emails.
Thanks again corporate-wage-slave for your help and advice.
Regards,
