Well I can provide a bit of an update since I stayed here for one night as an ambassador. I had few expectations on upgrades (I got a high floor) since I booked the hotel about 12 hours before arrival due to a flight delay, but also because it was recommended by the master thread (that I will update). With a Friday night stay I appreciated the full transparency of my welcome letter on what breakfast entailed (so I could avoid) and I did get a 4pm checkout. Reading this thread for the first time I perhaps now understand why...
Welcome letter, new name, same offering?
It didn't look like my Saturday morning breakfast was substantially different from the complaint above. I could see plenty of drinks choices, cereals, a few fruit, but perhaps now they've added pastries? Thankfully I wasn't actuality eating here, I just popped in to remind myself of how bad USA lounges are. In all it's glory...
Breakfast does seem a little bare for the space...
Lots of fruits, now with pastries
However I did feel that the (always a rip off) "destination fee" did have some use compared to many. It was $28, which you could spend in the hotel bar or at Starbucks (to compensate for the rubbish breakfast?), plus there was an added $10 uber credit that I did actually use. And I got a welcome bag with apple chips and two drinks for being an elite. I kinda felt that if I was properly staying here I'd spend my money on Starbucks each day.
I did like the location however. Lots of walking distance things to see, and close to public transport options. So I probably will return, with a "breakfast included rate" and no elite expectations.
