There was no option to change the FF number at OLCI, and the option to edit the FF number via the app isn't available (greyed out). Tried using the live chat and the agent said "we are unable to modify the account number in the reservation since it was booked as an award ticket."

Is this correct? Are agents at the airport still able to update the FF number?
As recently as last month (Post # 54) this was done at the airport. On a UA award ticket, the UA MileagePlus frequent traveler number (FQTV) might not be able to be removed, but perhaps a secondary frequent traveler number (FQTS) from the Star Alliance Gold (*G) account could be added.

However, even without that, at least some *G benefits, such as lounge access and Group 1 boarding, may be obtained by providing proof of *G status at the lounge entrance or boarding checkpoint.

I am unsure of the free checked bag without a FQTS in the record (for a non-UA *G), though that is indeed a *G benefit.
