The qualifying flight ??

Being totally new to the BAEC i'm following all the rules and trying to find a qualifying flight.
Whats the shortest or cheapest qualifying flight I can get from Manchester.
I mean, a cheap RT Man to LHR will cost me around £40+taxes...but i'm told (by the nice BA lady)it's not a qualifying flight as it's economy (lowest)
If I take economy (flexible) thats OK but the cost is around £250.

Anyone have suggestions? I'm not trying to cheat BA I just want to do the qualifying flight correctly.
I will be buying 3 WT+ LHR to Sydney in October/ November so I need my BAEC account set up well before then.
Just another question....is there some milage difference between a WT+ (lowest) ticket and WT+ (flexible) ticket???
