don't you think that requesting not to be upgrade and still getting the 1,000 miles is a bit much? sure i'm all about the miles but did the seat go empty and NW is out those miles (remember they are a liability to the company) or did a GE or SE get to sit in it (which then I'm all for the downgrading for miles)?
