I surmise that the recent boom is mostly new money spending above their means and flying PY and J when they used to fly Y. It will revert to normal in the next few quarters given the current economic outlook.

To me 'real' F is still a thing of old money, wealthy excutives and a few plane geeks working the system using points..and thus not part of the recent trend.
yes to the very wealthy. Those are often the people on their own dime who do not want to fly private, as others have said upthread.

Now, some may be those executives who do get paid J and upgrade on their own. I'd still consider those "own money flyers" not OPM flyers as they are paying for their upgrade
