we were on SIN-DPS, and booked the Child ASEAN meal for daughter, who is vegetarian. However, for the child meals, this was specifically described as:
so was surprised that the box came with a label of ‘chicken fried rice’. Opening the box, the meal was as described - fried egg on top of the rice with vegetables, but also chicken. Suffice it to say, we couldn’t let her have it - I gave my pre-order (veg oriental - jap Chae - which to be fair she did like) to her. Maybe my American background misinterpreted something different from Asian cultural norm - but it seems to me if the description specifies egg fried rice, vs. something like Chicken and egg fried rice, and chicken not even the description - it wouldn’t have contained it. Was this potentially mis-catered, or is this probably the normal for this dish?
again, I realize this was not specifically listed as a vegetarian choice, but description above, to my eye, seemed like it would at least not have contained pieces of chicken. Wondering if this is worth a piece of feedback to SQ?
no experience with child special meals, but sq usually lists the main ingredients used in the food, so probably not normal. if your kid is a strict vegetarian, then i would advise to order a vegetarian choice, as it is possible that some meat products such as chicken seasoning powder, oyster sauce are used even if there isnt any actual meat in the dish. in any case, no harm giving sq a feedback, maybe leave out the vegetarian part and just say you specifically chose that because your kid doesnt eat chicken
