And yes, the minimum wage Security Guard isn't risking their life for the 3 Quarters in your cupholder...there's a reason there are all of those signs that say 'Don't leave valuables in vehicle". Even actual Law Enforcement treat vehicle break-ins (and theft) as a low-priority property crime so you can wait hours if you want to report one. If you want action call and say you shot the person breaking into your car, they'll be there in 90 seconds...lights and sirens and all!!
So, when you are doing a rate comparison of multiple properties in a city trying to find the one with the lowest total nightly cost, you find it convenient to have to dip into each property, scroll to 'Parking and Transit' and then hit 'on-site parking' to find out what the extra cost of staying in that property vs other properties? You don't think that is hidden from the overall nightly rate? Cool.
And I don't think anyone expects the security guard to risk their lives, it was just a point to the average guest who thinks that paid parking is somehow 'secured parking'.
