Spouse applied for the Chase Sapphire Preferred recently. Unfortunately, we forgot to reduce her line of credit before applying. So, she got a letter of denial from Chase saying they have extended the maximum line of credit given the income level. Called the re-consideration line. They said they can't re-allocate like credit even thought two cards had over 10k in line of credit. Re-consideration person said she will re-submit it for further review. At this point, do you think it will help or hurt to reduce the line of credit with Chase or line of credit with other credit card issuers?
