Whilst I don’t disagree, the main problem as I see it now is BA’s entire product has been optimised for TATL and increasingly for American tastes and standards. It won’t be so simple for BA to suddenly open routes to Asia even if the aircraft availability is there without fundamental changes to the soft product in particular. Look at how BA is increasingly being replaced by CX on HKG, for example. Even expanding India routes may be about to get much more difficult to me - BA has basically had the non-stop market to itself for decades and now faces the threat of an Air India that is increasingly serious about not being a punchline. BA has made its TATL bed and now has to lie in it.

We shall see if Project Sunrise works or not, it will either be very brave or very stupid (I’m not sure which yet).
