Infrequent AS Flyer w/Lots of Miles
I currently have the BofA Visa Signature Card at $75/year. Grandfathered into no spend minimum for the companion fare, for what it's worth.
I used to fly Alaska a lot, and still have around 400K miles. But going forward I expect to fly them only 3-4 times a year, and will generally try to find my way into F either by paying or using miles. The companion fare would be valuable to me if I could use it on an F ticket, but that's not possible and upgrading is difficult on AS unless one has access to GGUs (which I don't).
Anyway. I can't think of a reason to keep this card and pay $75/year for little incremental benefit to my existing travel patterns on Alaska. Can any of you?
As a next step, I plan to call BofA and ask to downgrade to a no-fee credit card. It seems there are a variety of options to this end, but my only goal would be to keep the account open to support my credit history.
