I don't think it's going to happen. They really have to concentrate on higher yield traffic than SAN. PHX, LAX are close enough for a short flight or a short drive.

It was a 777 that served it. A fantastic destination and worth the drive from LAX but not for BA at the moment however much I would like it restored.
