I booked a return BA Business class reward flight using an Amex BAPP Companion Voucher from London to Asia, and at the time of booking, I added my BA Executive Club number (Blue). However, I’d now like to change the frequent flyer number on my reservation to my Royal Jordanian account, where I have Silver Jay (Ruby) status.
I'd like to secure seat selection 7 days in advance and avoid the usual downgrade treatment that BA applies to Blue Executive Club members flying on reward tickets.
I’ve tried a few different methods but keep hitting roadblocks:
1. The Finnair website doesn’t recognise my PNR or e-ticket number (125-xxxxxxx), so I couldn’t attempt the change there.
2. The Royal Maroc website allowed me to change the frequent flyer number to my RJ account, but then it returned an error stating my request could not be executed—so I was reverted back to my BA number.
3. I also tried deleting my FF number completely via the Royal Maroc website and then going into BA’s “Manage My Booking” (logged off) to add my RJ number from scratch. This initially seemed to have worked, but after logging in again, BA automatically reverted it back to my Exec Club number.
Additionally, I can see that c. 75% of the Business cabin seats have already been selected, so I am getting anxious that the cabin will be oversold given it's in a couple of months and it is a "competitive" Asian route with only one daily flight. Given these factors, I suspect that Premium Economy may already be overbooked, and I want to avoid the risk of being downgraded to Economy for a 14-hour journey or having to wait for the next day flight.
Given these issues, has anyone successfully changed the FF number on a BA reward booking with a Companion Voucher? I called BA and the agent told me it's not possible to change the FF number on a reward booking.
Secondly, if the worst happens, and I am downgraded to Economy, can I refuse and ask BA to put me on a Cathay and/or Qatar flight to my destination in Business Class on the same day?

I will try to help as best I can. Many people are shy about giving exact details of what they are doing, but you need to understand that that also limits the help you can get. We aren't psychic.
1. If Finnair can't recognise your PNR that is a worry. Normally they are pretty good with any OW booking. They have degraded your ability to manipulate the booking there, but they should still be able to see it ok.
2. Maroc and Jordanian seem to be the only places left where you can adjust your FF number, But it doesn't surprise me that it hasn't stuck when you tried. Ringing up or doing it at check in seems to be more reliable.
3. For the oversold issue, I would suggest you don't worry about it. There is nothing pro-active you can do. Likely it will be fine and if it isn't folks here can help you get the best compensation for it. Don't agree to anything before consulting FT
