interesting, just returned from there 2 weeks ago. D1 going down, PS coming back. I actually enjoyed the PS seats more than the D1 seats. The flight down is easy, 12N departure from LAX... 8~ hours enroute, and only a 2-hour time change from the west coast. I'm surprised more people don't travel to Tahiti honestly (until you look at the hotel prices haha). The return flight is a bit more painful, unless you are paying for a late hotel check-out, you end up sitting in that sweaty, un-airconditioned dump that is the Faa'a airport for several hours before getting on the redeye.
I wonder what this means for the future of the LAX 757/767 pilot base.
PPT gone. LAX-GUA/SAL gone in May. GUA was a "special pilot qual" route. Most of the Hawaii flying has been replaced with A321neos except for a token HNL 767 which makes up the HNL-Haneda route, and that equipment could easily be routed off SLC/JFK-HNL's 767 equipment and crewed from there as well.
