I stayed here last week for 4 nights and was very happy with the stay, the somewhat mixed reviews above notwithstanding. I thought the breakfast in Bowery Road was excellent, the only exclusion for Globalists is the steak and eggs which has a $10 surcharge. The variety of the menu and quality of the food was great. One of the better globalist breakfasts I've had in the city.
I didn't receive any noticeable upgrade, the room was typical Manhattan small, but perfectly suitable for one or two ppl. When I checked in I asked about the welcome glass of bubbles, which is advertised as part of the destination scam fee. The front desk rep said that due to the renovations/construction they didn't have a liquor license for that part of the building so it wasn't available, but she gave me a $20 F&B chit for Bowery Road as a substitute. The bar there has a decent happy hour (M-F, 4p-7p) by Manhattan standards, with a bunch of cocktails for $12 and some actual dinner meals for $15 - $20.
Only real let downs of the stay: at check out, neither of the two F&B charges from the restaurant were taken off in advance (the destination fee includes $10/day at the restaurant) but the rep took this off. Also, my last night it was raining pretty heavily and the window in my room began leaking a substantial amount of water into the room, to the point where maintenance came up and said yeah you need to move rooms. So they sent up a bellhop and moved me to a suite at the other end of the hall for the night. Pretty nice room, shame I couldn't have had this all week. lol. Behind me/to the left out of picture was a table seating 4, and there was a separate bedroom and a huge bathroom. All that said, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when here for work.
