Apparently BR has disclosed that they have exercised several A35X options and instead of 18 they now have 24 A350-1000s on order!

This will clearly be their new flagship aircraft. I can imagine that they will add in a nice modern 3-3-3 Y cabin, and possibly a 2-4-2 or 2-3-2 Y+ cabin along the lines of the recently introduced B789 Y+ cabin.

Then it should all be crowned by a new J cabin with privacy doors, and who knows, they might take a page out of JX/AF/VS et al and have the first row be a "Super J" seat!

Oh and with the increased order, it no longer seems like they are expecting to replace half of their 77Ws with A35Xs, and potentially hedge on a decision for 777-9s. Still possible, but considering how the 77X has been delayed seemingly forever, it makes little sense to wait. Moreover, when considering the 3-way competition in Taiwan between BR, CI, and JX, not having the upgauge in capacity beyond the 77W sounds smart. After all, the A35X has the same cargo capacity, same passenger capacity, but with double-digit efficiency improvement and super modern tech. The 777-9 will also have modern tech and an advanced wing, and similar efficiency, but provided that larger capacity is filled. The question is, does BR really need extra capacity?
