Lots of Polaris recently

Finally wanted to make a contribution after benefiting from reading far too many of these posts and trying out many Polaris seats (with another half dozen to come this year).

Although there are myriad factors in play, I now always try to get 1A on most of the widebodies including 777-300ER. If Door 1 is used, it feels like a real VIP experience, you barley see anyone from boarding to deplaning, and you get served quickly at all points. Bin space hasn't been a big picture issue (and I usually have 2 bags), but you do need to use bins in row 2 sometimes. I try to get the front of the boarding line just in case (I'm a lowly Platinum, so no pre-boarding). The large footwell and window alignment is just awesome to boot. And the exit door / galley buffers 1A from the lavatory, yet you get the convenience of having the lav on your side in front of you. Best of both worlds.

I've done mid-cabin and mini-cabin odd-row window seats and even though I am only 5'7", the extra space in 1A (or other bulkheads) really is a game changer. As is the little shelf in front. But I do not like the lavs being as close / adjacent as 1L on some non -300ER models (like 787-10), and 9A/L on the 777-200ER and -300ER.

As far as galley noise and light goes, it is a thing and the one trade to get all of the benefits of 1A. I am someone who has largely given up on sleeping on planes even though I take flights up to 17 hours. If I'm really that tired, I'll pass out cold and the galley won't be enough to wake me. So 1A hinges a bit on your limitations / attitude towards plane sleep.

Other seats that meet preferences like mine: 1L on the -300ER (also doesn't have a directly adjacent lav) and seat 9A on the 787-9 because it has the bulkhead space with no bathroom nearby. I haven't tried 6A on the 787-8 but I imagine it is also great for someone with my preferences.

Also: Even though both seats mostly meet my criteria, I choose 1A over 1L on a 777-300ER going east because of the sun, or possible Northern Lights sightings during TATL flight, and might shoot for 1L westbound if it's a maximum sunlight flight (but I haven't had a lot of westbound flights on this model, for whatever reason I'm getting a lot of 787 going westbound).
