Now I would have not paid the meter charge but my partner, Thai, did. She told me after that the driver had only been in Bangkok a few days and didn’t know a thing. But she remembered 45 years ago when she came to Bangkok with no money, no job and no where to live. And the struggle to try and make a good life for herself.
That’s a sort of tip!
it is part of Thai culture to avoid conflicts, even they have to pay a bit more...
in particular a Thai with higher social status does usually not argue about a few Baht with one of the lower class
