Seems consensus is that they oughtn’t have tagged it limited release, especially without my consent, and that I should have queried it had I noticed.
I’m not keen to raise a complaint now given that nothing actually went wrong but will look out in future.
If others have similar experiences would be good to hear about them. Thanks.
The only similar experience I have is having had my checked bag with limited release a month ago. Upon arrival the bag (box in this case) was totally destroyed. AFKL, of course, pointed out there was a limited release and had no liability as a result. This was a load of BS since I never gave them consent. In my case, however, I wasn't keen on pursuing a claim because I had knowingly checked in fragile items that were of low value. Besides, they came back with a commercial gesture that I was satisfied with.
That said, they are still investigating how and why a limited release was applied without my consent. I did raise an official complaint about this with the regular complaint form, and also via some personal contacts. I find this to be a very serious mistake.
