A lot of the time baggage is included. There was a thread on AA where this was not due to coding issues. It needs to be programmed accordingly. I'd reach out to AS Customer Care team to clarify, escalating if necessary (might need a specialist to answer). And please let us know the resolution. If your email has 20kg included, there should not have been a charge.
This is a common problem on AA Qatar awards where you have to reach out and have them re-ticket the flights with the correct baggage allowance.
