This makes no sense. A 1K in 2027 would still be bumped by any 4MMer companion, any GS 2 or 3MMer's companion, and any 3MMer companion on a higher fare basis. The only way to make sure a current 1K is not "bumped by somebody's spouse" is to max out companions at all MM levels at Plat. And you'd still get bumped if said companions are on the same record as the sponsor.

UA has the data on the E+ consumption by companions traveling w/o sponsor - that's still my guess. UA is about primarily about the money, not waitlist prioritization. You seem to be arguing UA is doing something only to improve benefits for the actual elite flyers - a true contrarian
