My loyalty to WN has been fading since they pulled out of SYR after less than two years of service. For close to 20 years I would drive to BUF/ROC/ALB, especially when there were three of us flying with a suitcase and golf clubs. These changes make them similar to United, American and JetBlue, however those three actually fly out of my home airport.
I have over 200k WN points (have never had this many) to burn through and I’ll be hard pressed to drive to a distant airport with limited savings. Most of the fares I’ve looked at in the past year are pretty high, so the concept of a lower cost carrier are long gone.
I cancelled my Southwest Business Card in December and we moved all our spending from the personal card in January. Most of our flying is on United now and the Chase Quest card gets two free bags. I’ve said for a long time that they spend a lot of $ on fuel flying bags with no revenue and should have instituted a nominal bag fee years ago.
It’s been a good run for us.
