The reason being is the Q fare price the OP quoted is not eligible for the NGO15 bonus as fares beginning with V, L, N, O, Q and S are excluded. Now, if you are Plat you would earn somewhere between 39,454 (ORD-NGO) and 49,924 (LAX-NGO) redeemable miles and get credit for 6,409-8,154 EQM and 3,205-4,077 EQP depending on your originating city.

Flying coach for that long is a pain in the you-know-what. If you upgrade then it will cost 50k miles plus and additoinal $500 which raises the price up to somewhere between $1,077.50 and $1,387. At that price I would go for a YUP to HNL for around $1,200 and get the 1.5 EQP (~16,000 EQP from my location). YMMV
