Japan Airlines Booked on AS Website

In chasing EQM's I purchased two business class tickets on JAL via the Alaska website. Round trip SEA to Vietnam for this fall. Cost almost 10k. When the confirmation came back with the Alaska code share record locator as well as the JAL record locator, there was a button by each segment that said "manage seats". In clicking on that button there was an error message saying reservation can not be found. I called JAL and was told event though I was a One World Emerald, when seats are booked on the partner website, seats will be assigned at the airport on day of departure only. So I called Alaska and was told that was wrong info, and that I should call JAL and ask for a supervisor, I did that and was told by the res agent, in order to speak with a supervisor about this issue I needed to set up a three way call with JAL and Alaska. I did that, and when the supervisor from JAL got on the line he immediately started berating the Alaska rep, saying over and over who gave you the authority to tell your customer to call me.?" It was crazy. He finally said your customer will choose his seats on day of departure, and hung up. The Alaska rep as well as myself were stunned. She said she was going to reach out to an Alaska supervisor who would get back to me. A supervisor from BOI called soon after, and she too was flummoxed. She said she called the One World help desk (not available to customers only partner airlines), and they confirmed to her that in fact I should have been able to reserve seats. So that's where it stands today. Any comments or thoughts out there in Flyer Talk land?
