EVERY company should have email as a 2FA or recovery questions or BETTER YET, a whatsapp code. I don't get locked out of my accounts that often, but some of my services basically just force you to use 2FA every so often. Never fails, as soon as I'm out of the country and not wanting to receive expensive text messages on roaming, poof, suddenly my bank forgets who I am. I realize not everyone has whatsapp, but I know a lot of people do and because it's data based, it's easy to be on a wifi network in your hotel or airbnb or wherever, and receive that code. The alternative maybe could also being using the authenticator apps. I'm not exactly sure how they work or their limitations but I have MS Autheticator for like 4-5 services, 1 that asks me all the time and the others rarely if ever ask me and I'm wondering why I have them in there. It's a huge pain to recover that stuff or even transfer it if you buy a new phone, but at least it doesn't require receiving an SMS. I turn that cell service on while on a trip and I'm immediately bombarded with 20 texts for boarding updates, grocery store promos, a couple spam texts and the code. Just send it to me via whatsapp.
