No, VX is not better. In fact Citi has superior ecosystem with most useful 5x multipliers (you will need to get multiple Custom Cashes for that), very useful 3x multipliers on CSP, 2x on DC, also you can get Rewards+ for extra 10% boost (up to 10k per year), so your multipliers become 5.5x, 3.3x and 2.2x respectively. I personally converted all my R+, Preferred, Premier and DC Citi cards to CCCs, since I get more points from those than from DC, R+. I do have Prestige, AT&T AM and Sears as well (those are discontinued). You will need to have Premier in order to have full access to transfer partners.
vx is useful for 2x foreign spend. can spend it at places whose mcc we are not sure of and retail stores, which isnt a bonus catergory for most cards. its af is mostly offset by the $300 credit and 10k miles. but if this card moves to the discover network then it's toast. but i agree this doesnt have to be high on the list, but can be useful
and of course ymmv, but i did encounter quite a number of issues with citi issued cards, with crappy fraud detection and rejected transactions, so it's also good to have a card from a different issuer and/or card network

yes so personally, i would reserve 2 out of the 6/24 for these 2 cards. because they will be gone. sub trumps any multiplier, especially barclays aa which only requires 1 transaction for the sub.

from what i read, barclays is highly inconsistent, so you maybe right, or op maybe lucky
