Had the D backwards seat NRT/DFW last month. Take-off felt a little weird but otherwise it made no difference to me. My major complaint with that seat is the footwell is tiny, and my feet aren't that big.

I was not aware of any "rocking issue" and didn't appear to be staring at anyone.
